Admission

  1. Age: Applicants should be 17 years of age on 31st December 2024. No relaxation of the minimum age will be allowed.
  2. Eligibility Criteria: Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or equivalent examinations recognised by any of the Universities in or outside the State of Kerala with an Aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and 50% marks in English (including migration and equivalent certificate) only are eligible for admission.

Curriculum

The college follows and adheres to the curriculum stipulated by the Indian Nursing Council and Kerala University of Health Sciences.

The B.Sc. Nursing program is a four-year program comprising of eight semesters that is credit and semester based. It is a choice based only for elective courses. Competency-based curriculum is the main approach that is based on ten core competencies. The courses are categorised into foundational courses, core courses and elective courses.

Attendance

The candidate must have to complete 80% of attendance in each of the theory and practical to appear for the university examination. Successful completion of 80% attendance in theory and 100% practical is required to award the degree. To ensure the transparency and the accuracy of the attendance, the college has installed biometric machines at the College, Hospital and Hostel premises. The students are instructed to Punch-In & Punch-Out as per the schedule.

Examination

Minimum Pass Mark

A candidate who has secured a minimum of 50% marks in theory (for internal and university examination separately) and 50% marks in practical (for internal and university examination separately) in a subject shall be declared to have passed in that subject. The minimum pass mark shall be 40% for Communicative English and Elective modules.

Examiner Qualifications

An examiner for practical / OSCE examination and theory evaluation should be an Assistant Professor or above in a College of Nursing with an M.Sc. Nursing in the concerned subject and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience. To be an examiner for the Nursing Foundations course, the faculty must have an M.Sc. Nursing with any speciality shall be considered.

Faculty

The institution has a total of 26 faculty members, with 18 having a postgraduate degree, two faculty with M.Phil. and Ph.D. The institution has two Ph.D. Research scholars.

Teachers who are involved in teaching non-nursing subjects can be the examiners for the program. In order to have a constructive teaching and learning environment, a teacher-student ratio of 1:10 is maintained.

Clinical Teaching

All the faculty are involved in clinical teaching, which aims to develop nursing students' skills and help them to integrate theory and practice through various methods like bedside clinic, nursing rounds, care studies, case method, self-directed learning and interdisciplinary partnerships (Collaborate with other healthcare professionals).
